Education Distributed Computing Education , Part 4 : Training Infrastructure

چکیده
we identified the need for teaching environments that provide infrastructure to support education and training in distributed computing. Training infrastructure, or t-infrastructure, is analogous to the teaching laboratory in biology and is a vital tool for educators and students. In practice, tinfrastructure includes the computing equipment, digital communications, software, data, and support staff necessary to teach a course. The International Summer Schools in Grid Computing (ISSGC) series and the first International Winter School on Grid Computing (IWSGC 08) used the Grid INFN Laboratory of Dissemination Activities (GILDA) infrastructure so students could gain hands-on experience with middleware. Here, we describe GILDA, related summer and winter school experiences, multimiddleware integration, t-infrastructure, and academic courses, concluding with an analysis and recommendations.

Guest Editorial Grid Education and Grid-Based Technologies Applied to Education: Ongoing Activities
GRID computing is often referred to as the next revolution after the Internet and the World Wide Web and evolved from high-performance and distributed computing during the 1990s. Although grid technologies were primarily intended to support computationally intensive scientific research because of the ever-growing need for computing resources, these technologies are increasingly being adopted in...
متن کاملEducation and Training in Data Handling and Analysis at the Interface Between e-Infrastructure and Reseachers
Much effort and concentration has been put into devising training regimes for a number of different technologies in distributed and high-performance computing (Jandric, Artacho, Hopkins, & Fergusson, 2008; Fergusson, D., Romano, van der Meer, & Atkinson, 2008). On the whole, however, these have tended to concentrate on the computational aspects of research tasks rather than the data-related asp...
متن کاملIssues of Model-Based Distributed Data Processing: Higher Education Resources Evaluation Case Study
Higher education resources are considered in this paper as a complex heterogeneous hierarchical system. The formal mathematical models for resources evaluation are suggested. The analysis of information and communication technologies applied in higher education establishments is conducted. The necessity of distributed hardware and software infrastructure for data storage and processing in the e...

متن کاملI-MINDS: An Agent-Oriented Information System for Applications in Education
In this paper, we describe an Intelligent Multiagent Infrastructure for Distributed Systems in Education (or I-MINDS) framework that applies an agent-oriented information system to education purposes. Our design employs distributed computing principles (i.e., Java Object Passing Interface and the Distributed Shared Object model) to facilitate cooperation among agents, data gathering and informa...
